Ali Shields, LCSW
Ali Shields, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker based in Idaho who is passionate about supporting individuals and families in finding hope, healing, and connection. She earned her Master of Arts in Social Work from Northwest Nazarene University, where she focused on community mental health and explored the systemic barriers that make accessing care difficult for people experiencing homelessness and mental illness.
In her current role at Shields Counseling, PLLC, Ali provides therapy for adolescents and adults, offering a safe and supportive space to work through challenges such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. She draws from evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused, strength-based and person-centered therapies, while always tailoring care to the unique strengths and goals of each client.
Before moving into private practice, Ali spent nearly 8 years working in suicide prevention and mental health advocacy through the Idaho AWARE Project and Idaho Youth Suicide Prevention Program. These experiences deepened her commitment to community well-being and to creating systems of support that promote resilience and belonging.
Ali has formal training in Sources of Strengthâ„¢ and Arresting and Treating Suicide Ideation, she continues to share her knowledge with schools, organizations, and community partners. Above all, Ali strives to meet each person where they are, offering compassion, understanding, and practical tools for growth.
