Janine Julianna Darragh is a professor of Literacy and English as a Second Language at the University of Idaho where she instructs courses in teacher preparation at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. A teacher of 32 years, Janine earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Ohio University and her Ph.D. in literacy and language education from Washington State University. Janine’s current scholarship focus is trauma-sensitive teaching, social-emotional learning, teacher well-being, and teaching in contexts of crisis. She has over 60 publications including four books, multiple journal articles, and several book chapters. Her most recent work includes two co-authored books: Social-emotional learning in English language teaching and Trauma-sensitive teaching in the English language classroom.

When Janine is not teaching, she enjoys reading, writing, cheering on local sports teams, and spending time with her two rescue dogs and two adopted cats.
